My Views

So I thought it is important to let others know my views on religion and spirituality. Granted in regards to my spirituality there is a lot that I still am unsure about. Though I have experienced enough to know what I don’t believe in. I also want to make sure that anyone who comes here knows that they are welcome.

Just because you see me talk about God or Jesus, it mean that my definition is the same as everyone else. My views are very much a melting pot of many different things. I want to point this out because I want this blog to be for everyone, even Atheists. You don’t have to believe in God to believe in love. Love is universal and that is what I hope that others take from my message.

I also understand why others might be rather skid-dish or gun shy when it comes to terms like God, Jesus, Hell, etc. Up until a few years ago I couldn’t use these terms or hear them without going into a panic. You might find me using terms like my higher power or source. Maybe that higher power is a better term to use when talking about God? I am not sure. I want to make sure this page is as inclusive as possible.

I was raised in a very religious family. Growing up we went to a Southern Baptist Church that my grandfather helped start. It was all fire, brimstone and eternal damnation. Heaven was described as this elusive place that only a few select were so privileged to gain entry. I envisioned the passageway into heaven being a tight rope where one false step would be the difference between eternal happiness and burning for eternity.

As an adult all of that became too much to handle, so I turned my back on my spirituality not realizing there was another alternative other than not believing in anything. I couldn’t accept that being gay would send me to hell so I let go of it all. I have since realized that I was brainwashed and that reality was not my own or the truth.

I still hold onto some of the untruths but am working on overcoming them.

God is many things to many different people. As unsure I am about my spirituality, God, heaven and hell… The one thing I believe in with all my heart is love.

I don’t believe you have to go to church to go to heaven. I am not religious either. For me living on this earth is about being the best person you can possibly be, and sharing that love our higher power gave us.

Agreed! I am not particularly religious either, but I do believe in the power of positive thought, prayer, and Angels. I also don’t believe that you have to go to church to show your love and gratitude for life every day.
